Publishing and subsidiary rights agreements, while important for achieving the widest distribution and renown for a work, are not the only types of contracts that authors may encounter. Authors may wish to engage the services of illustrators, photographers, editors, indexers or other independent contractors. Because they occasionally “go south,” it is critically important than joint authorship arrangements be subject to written agreements. Authors seek guidance frequently with respect to literary agency agreements. Authors may require model releases, voice talent agreements for audio books, nondisclosure agreements and releases for the use of third-party materials.
Our mission is to ensure that the agreements that authors sign are clear, fair, comprehensive, comprehensible, beneficial, in conformance with current law and enforceable.
